Getting nothing back?
Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, not text. Use Image to Text (OCR) with the same file.
Broken lines
PDFs store text line by line. "Join broken lines" merges lines that don't end a sentence.

Is my file uploaded?
No. PDF.js reads it in your browser.
Tables come out jumbled.
Text follows the order the PDF stores it in. Copy just the parts you need.
Garbled characters?
Some PDFs have broken font maps — OCR gives better results then.
