Why PDF text breaks
PDFs store where each line sits on the page, not where paragraphs begin and end. Copying gives you a line break at the end of every visual line — the classic problem with papers, reports and ebooks.
What the options do
- Join lines, keep paragraphs — paragraphs separated by blank lines stay; line breaks inside them become a space.
- Remove all line breaks — everything on one line, ideal for a spreadsheet cell or single field.
- Fix hyphenated line ends — joins words split like
infor-/mation. - Remove invisible characters — zero-width and non-breaking spaces that sneak in from the web or Word.
FAQ
My paragraphs merged together.
Without blank lines between paragraphs there's nothing to tell them apart. Add breaks after cleaning, or copy paragraph by paragraph.
A real hyphenated word got joined.
Hyphen fixing only joins when the next line starts lowercase, but compound words can still be caught. Untick the option if needed.
